Energy Efficiency Day 2020: Why Buildings Must Decarbonize & Electrify
Energy Efficiency Day 2020: Why Buildings Must Decarbonize & Electrify
Buildings account for 40% of the energy and 70% of the electricity used annually in the U.S. They must decarbonize and electrify via innovative technologies for a more sustainable future.

Energy Efficiency Day & Energy Awareness Month 2020
Energy Efficiency Day is the first Wednesday in October (10/7/20). It’s a collaborative effort of dozens of energy-efficiency advocacy groups around the U.S. In addition, Energy Awareness Month in the U.S. is October. This presents an excellent opportunity to shine a spotlight on the criticality of more energy-efficient buildings.
Buildings Must Decarbonize and Electrify
Buildings are some of the largest consumers and wasters of energy. Consequently, they account for about 40% of the energy and 70% of the electricity used every year in the U.S. In fact, the main reason why this is the case is because buildings are incredibly inefficient.
Building-Efficiency Technologies Bolster Energy Efficiency
How can buildings decarbonize and electrify, thus supporting global sustainability efforts? The answer is implementing building-efficiency technologies that exist on the market today. As a result, such innovative technologies can boost the energy efficiency of wasteful buildings and ensure a greener world.
Telling the Story of Building Efficiency via Infographics
Further, to tell this story of why buildings must decarbonize and electrify via innovative technologies, we’re using infographics. In this vein, a new one will be introduced each week for the month of October 2020. Here’s the schedule:
- First week: why building decarbonization matters
- Second week: why building electrification matters
- Third week: why building service and maintenance matter
- Fourth week: why building electrification and efficiency matter for cost savings
Stay Tuned for the Building-Efficiency Culmination
At the end of Energy Awareness Month 2020, we’ll unveil a culmination tying everything together to tell the building-efficiency story. Please stay tuned!
