Overcoming Barriers to Electrification: HIGHMARK’s Richard Gerbe Hosts Panel at BuildingEnergy NYC 2021
HIGHMARK CEO and Co-Founder, Richard Gerbe, hosted an in-depth panel at BuildingEnergy 2021 on how to overcome electrification barriers. The key is collaboration among a diverse array of stakeholders.

Collaborating to Overcome Electrification Barriers
Electrifying existing buildings is easier said than done. There are numerous roadblocks to electrification, from first costs, to technical feasibility, to grid limitations, operating costs and tenant education, to name just a few.
HIGHMARK’S Richard Gerbe hosted and moderated a roundtable discussion at NESEA’s BuildingEnergy NYC 2021 with key stakeholders representing manufacturers, utilities, engineers and building owners. The goal was to learn how cross-sector collaboration will help accelerate the decarbonization of New York’s existing building stock efficiently and equitably.
